Prerequisites
The Department of Food Science and Technology requires all students receiving a graduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) to have completed certain courses that are required for a B.S. degree in Food Science and Technology. Students having completed a B.S. degree from a program approved by the Institute of Food Technologists will have satisfied these requirements.
Some or all of these courses may need to be taken by students who received their degrees in other fields. Students must provide evidence of completion of the following food science and technology courses or equivalent courses:
FST 241 Food Preservation andPackaging
FST 410 Food Chemistry
FST 420 Food Microbiology
Items to be submitted to the Graduate School
n Completed "Graduate Application for Admission"
n $35 non-refundable application fee
n One official transcript from ALL colleges and universities attended.
n Official scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), General Test.
n TOEFL
n Documented evidence of financial resources sufficent to support the student for 12 months of study.

Ø Statement of purpose [In two pages or less (attach separate pages), describe your goals and reasons for pursuing a graduate degree in Food Science and Technology]
Ø Three letters of reference or completed rating forms.
Ø There are NO separate applications for Assistantships.
