密苏里大学哥伦比亚分校University of Missouri Columbia建于1839年的哥伦比亚城，是密苏里大学体系四个校区中占地最广的分校，也是该州最大的大学。该大学为西密西西比河地区历史最悠久的州立大学，也是美国前总统Thomas Jefferson在路易斯安那州Louisiana建立的第一所公立学校。
密苏里大学是该州34所大学中唯一入选美国大学联盟AAU(Association of American Universities)的大学，素有“公立长春藤名校”的美誉，被评为二级国家级大学，是全美「二百大」之一。学校是美国仅有的六所医学、兽医学、法律设立在同一个校园的公立大学之一。
